Tom Keenan

Tom was born in Philadelphia and moved to Santa Barbara in 1991. Though he has had a lifelong interest in art, his love of the Santa Barbara surroundings has recently sparked a serious interest in landscape painting. For the past 3 years he has been studying under talented local artists Thomas Van Stein and Rick Stich.

One of Tom’s nocturne paintings can be seen in American Artist Workshop, Fall, 2006 and he recently received an honorable mention award at the Gallery 113 ‘Heal the Ocean’ exhibition in Santa Barbara. He is a member of the ‘SCAPE’ (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment) group of Santa Barbara Artists.

He is for the most part a ‘realist’ painter but, through light and texture, strives to convey some of life’s special moments in every painting. ‘If, as a viewer, you get even a small sense of déjà vu, the artist did a good job’. Tom also works as a flight instructor at the Santa Barbara airport.
